Survey of the Confederation of Industry in the Czech Republic: Digital transformation increases the resilience of companies.
In the second half of 2020, the Confederation of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic conducted survey on the implementation of digital transformation and technology of Industry 4.0 among 99 companies in the Czech Republic. Of all respondents, 50 percent were large companies with more than 250 employees, 32 percent medium-sized companies with 50 to 250 employees and 18 percent small companies with less than 50 employees.
The survey suggests that companies in the Czech Republic become more aware of the benefits of digital transformation and associated investments in Industry 4.0 technologies amid the coronavirus pandemic. It proved that companies use Industry 4.0 technologies, digitize, and modernize their operations. Some key findings below:
- Previous investments in Industry 4.0 have helped 59% of companies to better deal with the impact of the coronavirus crisis. Large companies appreciate the effect of digitization the most.
- Nearly two-thirds of surveyed companies plan to invest more in Industry 4.0 related technologies after the experience with the coronavirus crisis.
- A quarter of respondents invests in their digital transformation to become more resilient to future crises.
The survey clearly confirms that the implementation of Industry 4.0 for most companies met expectations. Companies are now willing to invest more in technology, with the main driver being the competitive advantage and resiliency to future crises.
In the long term, it has become clear that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) would need to understand the practical benefits of digital technologies and support its deployment. More than half of SMEs does not engage in digital transformation at all. More than 40 percent of SMEs perceive it as necessary but see no benefit in it.
These are the main conclusions of the survey of the Confederation of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic on the use of Industry 4.0 and digital transformation.
